what is reality anyway

As I age, I notice myself becoming more palpably aware that “reality” is all about perception. Each of our respective “realities” is never set in stone; it’s malleable. This awareness exhilirates me and simultaneously, at times, immobilises me. I suffer from “white people problems.” I have been blessed with soo many options of what I’d like to do, in terms of careers, partners, friends! Nevermind SHOES and SUNNIES!! How to choose? (Disclaimer: I’m a libra. Ambivalence and I are close compadres.)

Don’t worry. I’m not morphing this into some pseudo yogi/philosophical internet space. Sometimes I have weeks, like this one, where I’m reminded that everything is transitory; there are no guarantees…..in life, or love….and I find it oddly liberating.

I think that’s why I gravitate so towards clothes. When the world around you feels uncertain, you can always control what you have on your back. That said, I no longer feel entitled to any glorious clothes (or accessories) I have.

In the words of Russ Simms (aka Russell Simmons), “White or black, rich or poor, none of us are entitled to anything.” xx
